Reverse Osmosis Functional Monitoring
Enhancing Visibility of Critical Water Treatment Systems
At the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, WISE Controls were tasked with improving oversight of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system that was not originally supported by the Building Management System (BMS). Given the system’s critical role in supporting healthcare services, reliable monitoring was essential to safeguard performance, ensure sterilisation, and reduce risk.
Using our expertise in BMS integration, WISE Controls installed specialist temperature sensors and CT switches across the RO system. We also integrated with the RO plant to monitor its function, track remote water heater operation, and verify local water temperatures at sterilisation points. This ensured the estates team could confirm sterilisation schedules were being achieved and that the system was operating safely and effectively.
By bringing this data into the hospital’s existing BMS, we provided real-time visibility of both temperature and operational status. This gave the estates team confidence in water quality management, improved their ability to respond proactively to potential issues, and safeguarded the reliable operation of this essential healthcare utility.
“Having worked with WISE controls for many years now, I can say without a doubt that Phil and Mia provide us with an outstanding service, they regularly go above and beyond to keep the Royal Liverpool Hospital site running while taking the time to educate our technicians in the many complex systems on-site.”
